What is Whatpilot and how does it work?

Whatpilot is a WhatsApp automation platform for Shopify stores. It connects your Shopify store to your WhatsApp number and automatically sends messages when specific events happen — like when an order is placed, shipped, or a cart is abandoned. You install it from the Shopify App Store, scan a QR code to link your WhatsApp, and your automations go live instantly.
Do I need a WhatsApp Business account?

No. Whatpilot works with your existing WhatsApp number — whether it's a regular WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business. You simply scan a QR code in our dashboard using the WhatsApp app on your phone. We recommend using a dedicated business number to keep personal and business messages separate, but it's not required.
How long does setup take?

Most merchants are fully set up and sending automated messages within 5 minutes. The process is: (1) Install from Shopify App Store — 1 minute, (2) Scan the QR code to connect WhatsApp — 1 minute, (3) Enable the automations you want — 1-3 minutes. No coding or technical knowledge required.
Do you offer a free trial?

Yes! Every new account gets a full 14-day free trial with access to all features in your chosen plan. No credit card required to start. You only enter payment information when you're ready to continue after the trial.
WhatsApp & Technical
Will my WhatsApp account get banned?

Whatpilot is designed to comply with WhatsApp's terms of service. We send messages only to customers who have placed orders or interacted with your store — they've already given you their phone number. We also include opt-out handling so customers can stop messages at any time. Following best practices (not spamming, sending relevant messages, respecting opt-outs) keeps your account safe. We've been operating since 2023 with no mass banning incidents.
What happens if my phone is offline?

Whatpilot runs on our servers 24/7. Messages are queued in a persistent job queue and delivered when your WhatsApp connection is available. Temporary disconnections are handled automatically with reconnection logic. For the best reliability, we recommend keeping the WhatsApp-linked phone powered on with an internet connection, but short outages won't cause you to miss messages.
Are messages end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. Whatpilot uses WhatsApp's native messaging protocol, which means all messages are end-to-end encrypted by default. We never store the content of your messages on our servers in plain text. Whatpilot stores message metadata (phone, status, timestamp) for analytics purposes only.
Does it work for stores outside Pakistan/UAE?

Yes! Whatpilot works with any Shopify store, any WhatsApp number, and any country. We have merchants in Pakistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria, UK, and many more. WhatsApp works globally and so do we.
Features & Automations
What is the COD Confirmation Poll?

The COD Confirmation Poll is one of our most popular features, especially for merchants in South Asia and the Middle East. When a cash-on-delivery order is placed, Whatpilot sends a native WhatsApp poll to the customer asking "Can you confirm you'll accept this delivery?" with "Yes, I'll accept it" and "No, cancel order" options. If the customer votes Yes, you dispatch. If No or no reply, you save the shipping cost. Merchants report a 45% reduction in failed COD deliveries.
Can I customize the message templates?

Absolutely. Every automation comes with a professionally written template, but you can edit the message content, add emojis, change the timing (delay), and toggle any automation on or off. Templates support variables like {{name}}, {{order_number}}, {{total}}, and {{tracking_link}} that are automatically filled in when messages are sent.
Can customers opt out of messages?

Yes, and this is mandatory for compliance. Any customer who replies with "STOP", "Unsubscribe", "Opt out", or similar keywords is automatically marked as opted out and will never receive another message from your store through Whatpilot. You can view opted-out contacts in your dashboard and re-enable them if they request it.
How does the Broadcast Campaign feature work?

Broadcast lets you send a message to all your active contacts at once (or with a staggered delay to avoid rate limits). You choose a message template, optionally set a delay between each send, and click send. It's perfect for announcing a sale, new product launch, or seasonal promotion. Available on the Pro plan.
Billing & Plans
What counts as a "message"?
+
Each WhatsApp message sent to a customer counts as one message toward your monthly limit. A poll counts as one message. Receiving replies from customers does not count against your limit. If you hit your monthly limit, automations pause until the next billing cycle (or you can upgrade your plan instantly).
Can I switch plans or cancel anytime?

Yes. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel your plan at any time from your dashboard. No lock-in contracts. If you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. We don't offer refunds for partial months, but you'll never be charged again after cancellation.
Do you offer discounts for annual billing?

Yes! Annual billing saves you 30% compared to monthly. You can switch to annual billing from your account settings at any time. The discount is applied immediately and you'll receive a prorated credit for any remaining time on your current monthly plan.
